WMS301 Description
Core Purpose
The WMS301 is a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) door sensor designed to detect door activity while also monitoring environmental conditions. It can identify when a door is opened or closed and measure temperature and humidity around the monitored area. This combination allows operators to track both access events and environmental changes using a single compact device.
The sensor works together with compatible BLE trackers, allowing the door status and environmental data to be transmitted to a wider monitoring system. This makes it suitable for applications where door activity and climate conditions need to be monitored continuously.
Connectivity and Communication
The device uses BLE 5.1 connectivity to communicate with nearby tracking devices. Bluetooth Low Energy enables the sensor to transmit status updates and environmental readings while maintaining low power consumption.
In open environments, the BLE signal can reach distances of up to 150 meters, allowing the sensor to communicate reliably with connected tracking units installed in vehicles, containers, or nearby infrastructure.
Monitoring and Detection Capabilities
The WMS301 is primarily designed to monitor door activity. Using a magnetic detection mechanism, it can detect door open or close events within a distance of less than 3 cm. When a door state changes, the device generates an interrupt trigger to immediately notify the connected tracking system.
In addition to door monitoring, the device measures environmental conditions. It continuously records temperature and humidity values with a sampling period of 10 seconds, enabling regular monitoring of storage or transport environments.
Temperature monitoring covers a wide range from –40°C to +70°C, allowing the sensor to operate in both refrigerated and warm conditions. Humidity measurement ranges from 0% to 100% RH, supporting monitoring in controlled storage environments.
Power and Environmental Suitability
The WMS301 is designed for long-term deployment in demanding environments. Its IP66-rated housing protects the device against dust and powerful water exposure, making it suitable for outdoor installations and logistics environments.
The sensor operates on 3V power and uses a 1200 mAh lithium iron battery. This low-power design allows the device to operate for more than three years without battery replacement under typical conditions.
The device also supports operation in extreme environments, with a working temperature range from –40°C to +70°C, allowing it to function reliably in cold-chain logistics or outdoor installations.
Installation and Physical Design
The device is compact and lightweight, allowing it to be installed on doors or container surfaces without complex mounting procedures. Installation is performed using a 3M adhesive sticker, which simplifies deployment.
The sensor unit measures 75 × 38 × 19 mm, while the magnet measures 70 × 14 × 12 mm. The lightweight design, with the sensor weighing 48 g and the magnet 18 g, helps ensure stable installation without affecting door operation.
An integrated LED indicator provides visual feedback during operation or installation.
